Fortunately the quake didn't touch where my mother was(as far as i know but i haven't talk to her yet since communication is so bad) BUT the house in the capital is completely destroyed. now her case is complete but she is awaiting for the interview letter to go do her medical and then interview. however, we are wondering how will she get all these thing done because the capital is a mess and i heard that even the embassy was effect by the earthquake.

anyone know what can or could happen here?

It is very sad to see and hear the destruction occurred in your country, nonetheless my prayers are upon your countryman and family.

For now, you will have to wait until everything goes back in order or until the US embassy/consulate starts operations again. Keeping in mind you are not the only case and back up will be a big issue after operation resume.

Best thing to do is wait until embassy is back to work and confirm the status and how back they are due to the devastation.

My sympathies and prayers,

"Peace is not the product of terror or fear. Peace is not the silence of cemeteries. Peace is not the silent result of violent repression. Peace is the generous, tranquil contribution of all to the good of all. Peace is dynamism. Peace is generosity. It is right and it is duty." -- NAPF page on Oscar Romero

Same here, we've been praying for everyone in Haiti and trying to help as much as we can.

I'm thinking that the NVC should have a better answer for you since they're the ones who have to contact the embassy to make the interview appointment. I'm assuming they have every case on hold until some sort of "normality" can be established in Haiti.

Best wishes to you and your family. Hope all is well.

kassyrose My prayers are with our Sistren and Bretheren of Haiti as I have family there too and have not been able to talk to anyone. I am not sure of the answer but I would start with the USCIS and NVC they should have some information about how the pending cases can move forward as a result of this tragedy. If they can't help you contact the State Dept they should be able to direct you to the correct office that can assist.

I will continue to pray for Haiti and I hope you are able to get through soon (F)

That's it?! They just said to sit and wait? I can't believe that when I've seen on TV that they're trying to see if they can expedite cases that are currently being processed to help the people in Haiti.

I sure hope you hear better news soon and that you can be with your husband in no time.

My prayers are with you and all the people in Haiti.

the scheduling is all messed up now - but - whilst yer waiting -

check the addresses in the copies of the paperwork (that you sent in )

if the place is destroyed, won't be postal mail going there anytime soon, right?

suggest your mother to send in a piece o postal mail sometime in the next few weeks, with an address on her, to the IV unit in Haiti.

It will need to have her NVC case number in it, and be addressed to the IV unit (or it might sit in pile for other types) .

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
