Sarah Palin to become Fox News contributor

The New York Times says the Fox News Network has confirmed that former Alaska governor Sarah Palin will become a regular contributor to the network in a multi-year deal.

The Times Media Decoder's Jim Rutenberg quotes a source familiar with the deal as saying the former Republican vice-presidential candidate will not have her own regular program but will host an occasional series, much as Oliver North does now.

Financial terms were not disclosed, The Times says.

Its says Palin has signed a multi-year agreement "to offer her political commentary and analysis across all Fox News platforms, including including Fox Business Channel, FoxNews.com and Fox News Radio. "

It said she will also participate in "special event political programming" for Fox Broadcasting.

"I am thrilled to be joining the great talent and management team at Fox News," Palin says in a statement. "It's wonderful to be part of a place that so values fair and balanced news."

Foxnews. com adds that the former governor will also host periodic episodes of Fox News Channel's Real American Stories, a series of "inspirational real-life tales of overcoming adversity throughout the American landscape that will debut in 2010."

Bill Shine, Fox's executive vice president for programming, said in making the announcement that Palin "has captivated everyone on both sides of the political spectrum and we are excited to add her dynamic voice to the FOX News lineup."

It would make more sense making her a news reader, than a "contributor".

The only opinions you'll get out of her as a contributor are the stereotypical partisan mud slinging. On any national issue, she has demonstrably zero knowledge.
