Has anyone in Mumbai ever went through the medical checkup before the visa? What did they do during the procedure?

Like, is it just shots and an xray, or is it a full blown physical?

You have to go through the medical before the VISA interview, once you get your interview date book an appointment with the desired Medical affiliated with the US consulate. Number of shots and other things will depend upon gender, age and previous vaccination records. There is no need to have vaccination records, they will do a blood test of the applicant and will determine what all vaccinations are required. Shouldn't cost more than Rs. 6000 or 7000.

One should get the medical report the same day given there are no problems with your medical.

Says physical on the site, as well as chest x-rays. Nothing about anaethesia. I assume you can have a titre test done earlier too and just show it them so that they can ascertain what vaccinations are required.

Better yet, can anyone that did their interview in Mumbai recommend a doctor on that list to go to? I already know about the list of doctors on the mumbai consulate site, my question is the people that did the medical check, can they either recommend a doctor to go to, or complain about the one they went to?

What would be really awesome, is something like the consulate reviews, but pertains to the doctors on the embassy approved list..

I read in one of the stickys in AOS, that some countries allow you to defer your vaccinations until you arrive in USA, is India one of those countries?

Doubtful. From what I understand, you may get an antibody titer test done and get the required vaccinations from your personal physician. But you have to show up on the designated day for your medical and if required they will give you more shots or just the plain physical/HIV/sputum test.

I came to the US on a K3 Visa in 2005...I had my interview in Chennai...At my medical they took blood i think to test for HIV and chest xray... and then doctor makes you strip to do a physical...they are mainly looking for if you have any rashes or any other leasions etc...

I didnt have any vaccinations in india... When i came to the US I went to my primary care doctor and she gave me a Tetanus shot and then few weeks before the interview i went to my county hospital and had a Free MMR shot... and also went to my primary care doctor so that you can do blood to show that you have had chicken pox... the scars dont help.. they need to do the blood work... so i took the Shot records from my doctor ( tetanus, MMR and the Chicken pox blood work report) and gave to the USCIS physcisans doctor or whatever you call them, then he transferred all the records in a piece of paper or a form that a uscis needs and he sealed it up and gave it me...all these things costed me around 40-50dollars in Jan 2006.

At my interview the IO didnt even bother to ask it...but i just decided to give it to him...

Yes they do full physical, x-ray, vision and blood test. Doctor does the physical test and ask all kind of questions, doctor also gives the shots. For female its a female doctor and for male its male doctor.

I went to Breach Candy hospital for my test, this is a brief synopsis of whatever I remember from that day

--Arrived at 7:30 am

--Asked to fill up a form and gave 3 passport size photographs

--Nurse took my height, weight measurement, did a vision check, took blood sample

--At around 9:30 am, they gave a break and asked everyone to get back at 10:30 am, asked us to get something to eat.

--Got back, was taken to X-ray room in a different building.

--Got back fro that x-ray room to the initial building, a female elderly doctor took my case

--Did full physical, she asked a list of questions, regarding drug, alcohol usage or any previous mental problem

--During physical she asked about all the small scars and how they were caused

--After physical, we were taken back to another building and they gave us shots, I got 2 shots. I think one was MMR and don't remember the other one.

--After that was asked to come back at 4 pm and collect the medical report from the reception area.

So that's about it, hope this helps.

Even if you could defer them until you reached the US, you probably wouldn't like what it would cost you here. Better to get them done in India where they're much much cheaper.

I would rather her get them done in USA because my paranoia's more important than money.. [WISHFUL THINKING] I'm hopeing by the time she's actually in Florida they would say its no longer required to get that gardasil ####### shoved in her system. [/WISHFUL THINKING]
