All depends on the player. I have listened to interviews and some have stated they enjoy leaving the game at the rink and not having their personal lives involved in the public eye at all times. And isnt the Leafs partly owned by the Ont teachers fund, so they are more concerned about profit than winning!! And hey, if your selling out with a crappy team,who cares! Its nowonder why TO doesnt want a Hamilton franchise so close by.

I knew they had to be up there, but the fact that they are number one makes me cringe.

I realize it's a business, but it's a business I feel close to so it makes me so angry that they still get 100% support and they suck. Therefore, all those millions of dollars in ticket revenue aren't going to making a better team, they are going into the pockets of the board and the owners!

Are they really partly owned by ontario teachers? haha

I don't think many players want to play in Toronto. one is always under the microscope,and besides, its the leafs,lol

The natural progression goes like this. First an aspiring young Leafs' fan gets drafted by someone other than the Leafs. Secondly, he plays magnificently and earns many awards. Thirdly, he is too old to play at the level he once did and thinks about retiring. Fourthly, he signs a multi-million dollar contract with the Leafs. Which NHL team would have drafted Wayne Gretzky when he turned 18 but didn't because he was underage when he went to the WHA and our Pal Hal was too cheap? Take a wild guess? Which team sold off a farm system that produced most of the players that helped Edmonton win all those Stanley Cups? That was forty years ago and we're still paying.
