My last year income meets the minimum requirement (poverty guidelines) just fine;

2 years ago I barely made the minimum (was a full time student half of the year, so no income in that half), and 3 years ago I was a full time student the whole year (no income)

I am qualified for I864ez, but as far as income on 2 and 3 years ago goes (question 19), only last year makes the minimum requirement.

Questions:

1. Is there going to be a problem since income on 2 and 3 years ago doesn't make the minimum?

2. If I need extra evidence/cosponsor, etc... does the NVC let me know then, or I may get screwed and rejected in the consulate at the interview time if they don't like what they see as far as affidavit of support is concerned? If it's a matter of NVC rejecting the AOS right there, I can deal with that, but if there is a chance that you get screwed in the interview day and you get rejected, that would be to risky, in this case I rather find a co-sponsor.

Have you seen/heard such experiences for the above 2 questions?

Thanks,

try and get a joint sponsor if you can. I don't know how many years income you have to submit.

best of luck

NVC will let you know by RFE I think, this will delay the application. The safest thing is to get a joint sponsor.

Best of Luck. Best wishes. Thank you.

Well I am pretty sure that having a co-sponsor is good; However it's not such a feasible thing for me to do right now, hence the question.

I864ez says you can submit your last tax return, and I am in a good shape there, but on one of the questions (19) it also asks you about your income on 2 and 3 years ago.

Any inputs guys?

As long as you are currently making enough, have proof of current income (employment letter, pay stubs etc...) then you are fine, even if you did not make enough 2-3 years ago. They want to be sure you can support them NOW. The tax returns from 2-3 years ago are optional to turn in... If you have a co-sponsor, great, use them in case there is an issue... You should be fine! They are mainly concerned with NOW

Hi Mohsen,

I just posted pretty much the same question today. I called the NVC and they said I am fine with the most recent year and do not need to include the income number on the second and third line if I'm not submitting those returns. However, I am still going to send the employment letter and pay stubs to support.

I went over the I 864 one more time and this is what it says in Q 25.

I have filed a Federal tax return for each of the three most recent tax years. I have attached the required photocopy or transcript of my Federal tax return for only the most recent tax year.

I think you will need to put your last 3 years AGR in there but they really care about the most recent year. I would double check with some qualified individual.

I also sent I864ez and mentioned only last year income.... We'll see how it goes.

By the way, I want to change the consulate that they assigned us for interview. I couldn't find many threads regarding that in visajourney.

Do you know how that works? I sent them emails and also letters regarding that, but still no response....

Any experience?

Thanks

Ok I am in a stage that paid my IV fees and also sent DS230 package, so I think my AOS was ok with them. (I filed 864ez, and only my last year of income met the minimum requirements).

May this journey be a smooth one for all.

Why mention this year's income, when it's not even required?

I believe it shouldn't be a problem because they look at your tax returns of previous years, not this year.

Plus you already sent in you Affidavit of Support, and you were assigned an embassy interview already, so this step is passed. Has anybody heard that they come back to financial situations again once they accept your affidavit of support?

Thanks,
