Packet 3:question about children's birth cert.

Hi, we received the NOA#2 and are now getting everything ready for the Packet 3.

I understand that the the beneficiary (my fiance) must provide certain documents as per packet 3, including any any child's birth certificate. Is a copy of his daughter's birth certificate allowed? He does not have the original, as it is with this daughter's mother, in another country.

Hi , you will need the original long birth certificate , Consulate will not accept copy of it . Hpe this helps and Good Luck

Are you also filing for a K-2 for the daughter? If so, you are probably going to need the original. I would email the consulate and ask for sure rather than go to an interview unprepared. You can get a duplicate original from the issuing country.

If he is providing a copy of the birth certificate for the processing of his visa only (many consulates require K-1 petitioners to provide copies of childrens birth certificates, even if the children are not applying for a visa) Then I think a copy will be sufficient.
