....her K-1 visa is in process at this point.....is it better for her to try to complete her college education in the Dom. Rep....obtain a diploma as compared to tranfering to an institution here in the United States.....which will be more difficult for her.....and cost wise since I will have to pay (at least part) of the cost of her education here......I will like her to off course get her university diploma there.....and maybe take an ESL course.....anyway I am somewhat novice to this any advice....

My fiance had almost 2 years left before she finished her nursing degree in PI.

I waited tll she completed her education in her home country.

Bringing her here would of been a mistake.

Hard to get into nursing college in USA, Very Expensive, and more than likely she would be taking a giant step backward by probably having to retake a lot of subject she had already passed in PI.

I cannot say. My wife had completed her education long before we met and her masters degree was given full fauth and credit here. I cannot say about an education for Dominicana. You could try to contact ECE and ask waht their general impression of degrees from there is. (Google ECE) Cost may also be a factor. Our son still attends a University in Russia and will complete his master's degree there as it is just so much cheaper and much better than anything we could do here. His degree will be fully accepted here. His full tuition, room and board, books, everything, at the top engineering school in Russia is $3700 per YEAR, and that is the NON resident fee.

If her K1 visa is in process, I don't think she will be able to finish the college education unless she is at the end of the carrer.

I got an university degree 10 years ago, a master degree 7 years ago. Education here in DR is cheaper than in US. She can convalidate having the school record notarized at the Cancilleria and CONES. If you want she ends the school here you would have to cancell the process, come to marry her and then apply for a CR-1 then you would have enough time.

Also the Embassy can re-issue the visa, re-print it in the passport if you both have a valid reason but I think it would be a waste of time because of the adjustment of status she would have to go there.

PM if you would like to have more info.
