I am finishing up my husband's AOS documents and discovered that the A number on his visa does not match the A number on the NOA2. It is one number off..it is a 9 on the NOA2 and a 4 on the visa. Which one should I use for the forms, and will this be a problem in filing all the AOS, EAD, and AP paperwork?? Thanks!

I would call the USCIS I-800 line and ask which number is valid for him. It could just be a typing mistake or it could be a number assignation mistake. The person that you get to speak to on the phone (select options 1,2,3 in that order) is a call center person - you ideally need to escalate the call to an immigration officer. Explaining that you have two A numbers listed and need to determine which one is correct should be able to get you to an immigration officer. Good luck.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Thanks for the quick reply! I am assuming someone would only answer the phone Monday-Friday? Or would it be worth a try today?

Yes, you will have to wait for Monday to get to speak to a real person. I believe the message does give the hours of operation though, so you could probably call today and get that information.

Just wanted to let you all know what happened in case this happens to anyone else! I called USCIS and after being transferred to an officer, was told they can't verify A numbers over the phone, and to just put a note on the cover letter that we had two different numbers listed. Thanks sooo much USCIS.
