I checked my I129F case status online today and it changed to Approved as of yesterday. So, that was about 97 days from submittal at CSC.

I assume about 2-3 weeks at NVC and then by mid to late September the Consulate in Vancouver should have the approval etc from NVC. Perhaps it will come sooner than 2-3 weeks but who knows. Maybe it will be longer.

Without knowing any better, I assume it will take about a 4-6 weeks or so for the Police Clearance(s) to come back from Hong Kong and the PHILS. In the meantime, the rest of the packet paperwork etc etc will have been done by my Fiancee by the time those clearances return. Perhaps we can fax the completed checklist form to Vancouver by the end of September or early October and get an interview sometime in November or December. That's my best guess for a time line for the other half of the process to go.

In the meantime, since I became part of the ranks of the unemployed last month  , I still have a couple of months to find a job or, gather enough liquid assets for the I-134. For the I-134, I think it's about 3X times the poverty level in liquid assets for the proposed household??....

Congrats on your NOA2!!! And yes, 3x in liquid assets. They usually don't consider primary, ( house and car) but will look at secondary. Or if you have enough in an IRA. Does your fiancee have any? That helps as well.

I hope your able to get a job soon. Take anything!!

Thanks to everyone for the congrats

Tim/Joyce,

I'll try for the 3X assets and my fiance has cash in savings as well that we can use for the I-134. In the meatime, I continue to interview.

I'm not dog-whining here but I have to be somewhat careful in just taking any job. While I can find "a job" that's well over the poverty guidlines fairly easy it wont be one that I would be able to support myself on because of my expenses. :bonk: No one to blame but myself. It's the old saw-the more you make, the more you spend. Well, the flip side of that is the more you make, the longer your search will normally be if you become unemployed. These are general statements, everyones mileage will vary.

The upshot is that I make $630/Wk on unemployment which augments my savings while I look for a new position. If I take a job and quit it because it was just something to get through the initial interview at the Consultate, say good bye to the unemployment if I'm out of work again because I made a poor choice in choosing my next employer. I'd like to keep the 2,500/month coming in during my job search. Having said that, I may not be able to have my cake and eat it too. I'm feeling more internal pressure everyday. Life is often about choices so we'll see..
