ok, so i got our noa2 today. I'm wondering how long it takes the embassy in Juarez to get you the open invitation letter, packet 3. I'm trying to get a rough timeline laid out. Are they timely, or should I start the ball rolling with my congressman?

I want to know exactly the same thing. It looks like the timelines say on average it is 72 days from the time received until the interview but that sounds way too long. I am sure some people don't go right away for whatever reason. I also saw in the Juarez forum that several people recently went ahead and write their congressman. I am torn about whether to call the Juarez embassy (since it is so expensive) or if I should just go ahead and write Mitch McConnell.

For my local congressman (in Michigan) you have to have basically an authorization form for them to act on your behalf on file. So I did that yesterday and faxed it in. 2 hours lady someone called me, she had already called the embassy even though they don't have it yet. She said wait until they've had it for 2 weeks and then call them.

I think my fiance can fill out all the documents available on the juarez website and we just need the letter, so hopefully it doesn't take that long.

That's right your fiance can just fill out all of the paperwork from the website and you don't actually need the letter because you can get a copy there in Juarez. You do have to wait for them to tell you the letter and packet 3 have been sent. My fiance is from a state with very little mail service so we wont be waiting for the letter to arrive.

So is your congressman's office going to call Juarez for you in two weeks or are you going to call?

I will ask them to call after two weeks....I'd like to think we could go to Juarez the last week of September.

That is when we want to go, then or the first week of October. I really hope it happens.

I think the congressman can ask them to mail the letter to the petitioner, which could speed it up a lot.
