I'm sure people will tell you to just "read the guides" but I hope I get in first :)

Okay, so basically now you have NOA2, the rest will be done by the beneficiary... i.e. the person NOT from the U.S.A.

Here's my thread on what happened after NOA2, but it might not apply EXACTLY because it's Australia but maybe it'll put your mind at rest a little :)

is the receipt number still the case number that was given to me by the USCIS? or will I be receiving one specifically for NVC?

It's from NVC - corresponding to the embassy it is going to usually. (IE Ankara embassy, ANKXXXXX)

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

I called NVC a few days ago, they gave me a case number by phone, and said it was being forwarded to the embassy. What now?

When you get info from NVC you can track the shipment to Manila...

Once you know the date NVC sent off the file, track it at DHL's website: http://track.dhl-usa.com/TrackByRef.asp?nav=TrackByRef For the reference code, enter EXP 10 JUL 2009A (adjust using dates just before the date NVC told you), with a shipping range of that day to a few days later (July 13 - July 14 worked for the example above). Look for shipments to your beneficiary's embassy.

To find out if the embassy processed the packet, call the Dept of State before 5pm: 202-663-1225 press 1 then 0

After they get it follow this...

Don't wait on them to send you anything or you may get old. Go to this page and learn all you need to...Call them and see if they have your package yet and set an appointment.

Has she/he got all the paperwork ready yet, is the medical done.

Go to StLUKES send her a copy of the letter from NVC, email or mail your choice: it's walk in so don't worry best to go Tues-Thurs to avoid rush.

Medicals are valid for 6 months. Info about medical is at the wwwfk1en.pdf link above.

i tried checking it out... but don't know if any are specific to me. I don't know if I can find my specific package.

It shows the packages by embassy, if they said it was sent Aug 12th then enter EXP 12 AUG 2009A and then look for Manila, Philippines. Your package will be in a package with many others going there at same time, it will not be a specific package, once you find Manila just watch and it will show when they receive it and you can call them 1 or 2 days later and more than likely you will be in their system by then.
