Hi, we sent our I-129F package in on the 28th of April and are waiting for the NOA2 to arrive. We think we will get it sent to us in October and of course we don't want to wait longer than necessary. During the I-129F processing time, my fiancé has moved from his parents house in North Carolina to his own place in California.

We have understood that it is very important to inform the USCIS about the address change. We are however worried that this will prolong our wait for the NOA2. Would this be the case? If so, should we wait with informing the USCIS about the address change until after the NOA2 has arrived?

As I said, the old address goes to his parents place so we will receive all the letters that the USCIS will send us no matter what.

Thank you so much for the help!!

If it were me - I'd go ahead and do the change of address with USCIS - it would not cause any delay in processing.

I (the USC) moved shortly before the NOA2 was issued and received it at my new address without any problems. He's got (like you mentioned) the added 'insurance' of having is old address be his parent's home so he wouldn't miss anything in the mail anyway.

From previous posters, the main concern has been that they update the address with USCIS, and USCIS still mails documents to the old address, even though they have the new address on file. As a result, these people don't get their appointments or whatever because they were mailed to the old address.

However, for your case---because the old address is a family address, even if your documents were to be sent to the old address, your fiance's parents would get them, and most likely they would inform you about it; the delay happens if you were to move, and the old address had no attachments to you; in other words, if the documents were to be sent to the old address, and nobody is there to say, 'hey, we got your uscis papers, come and get them,' then you're at the mercy of the postal service if they got the notice to forward the mail from the old address to the new address. The delay per se, is not related to the change of address delaying the case. But it happens if for whatever reason, uscis mails the documents to the old address. Again, for your case this would be irrelevant as you got family to inform you of the received uscis mail, if that were to happen.

Oh, one more question...

Since he is moving from NC to California, I think we're gonna have to change our service center too... Would that make any difference?

Thanks
