Extension to deadline of I-797E Notice of Action – Request for Evidence

Back in 2005 I filed an I-130, Petition for Alien Relative, in favor of my son.

Two weeks ago I received an I-797E, Notice of Action – Request for Evidence, asking for additional documentation.

I was given 4 weeks to respond, including the time the postal service took to deliver it, which lives 2 and half weeks to secure and send the requested documents.

All heartedly I wish to comply but there is not nearly enough time to do it, specially, since these documents must come from abroad.

Today, during a call to the USCIS I was informed that no deadline extensions are granted in cases pertaining to an I-797E, Notice of Action – Request for Evidence this without exceptions.

Did any one have the same experience?

What action can I take to be granted an extension to the deadline?

What documednts are they asking for? Can you posibly have them scanned or are they asking for original documents? I ask becasue my hubby is also petitioning his son adn it would help lots if I knew what the RFE was for. Hopefully you can send copies and get those scanned or faxed to you to send ASAP

Why is it that the only one who can stop the crying is the one who started it in the first place?

Oldest son now 21 I-130 filed by LPR dad ( as per NVC CSPA is applying here )
I-130 approved 2/24
Priority date 12/6/2007
4/6/2010 letter from NVC arrives to son dated 3/4/2010
5/4/10 received AOS and DS3032 via email
9/22/10 Interview BOG Passed
10/3/10 POE JFK all went well
11/11/10 GC Received smile.png

Use FedEx, UPS, DHL, etc. to send documents overnight instead of relying on the regular mail. A small price to pay to complete the visa process.
