"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

I love when people throw things like that out, hoping something will stick. Yes, it's because you're gay and in Quebec. That's two of the no-nos on this list of criteria here.

i thought those two went hand in hand :hehe:

Not so ridiculous if the funds aren't there. When you're weighing criteria the money goes to the best bang for the buck, so to speak. :hehe: It's just not possible to give funding to every organization who requests it. Especially in these severe economic times.

The article leads you to believe the $$ is there; they just chose not to fund this event. I don't think $155,000 is alot that they are asking for either, it's not like they're asking for a couple of mill. The pride events bring tons of tourism to the city as well, so many people attend the pride events. So it's great for tourism

Yes, journalists/policiticians/union activists/etc/etc/etc will always slant a story to what they want people to believe. I tend to want to hear both sides of the story before I come to a conclusion, though. Just a quirk of mine. :hehe:

Leads you being the operative word.

Say there was 1 million dollars in the budget...there are probably 100 things for families and children that the city could be doing. I love the toronto parade, but does every city need to have their own?
