Yesterday I met filipina, then in the middle of discussion she told me that she had a problem with her removal of conditions. She told me during interview, she was denied because she voted in 2006, even though she is not a US citizen. She told me when she is renewing her state ID the person asked her if she want to vote then she said yes, then she received a voter's card in the mail and voted in the election of 2006. She couldn't renew her EAD and lost her job. She said she is willing to go home but her and her husband have a 2 year old daughter whom was born here and is a US citizen. She lost her first appeal and they told her she needs to go home, she has filed another appeal and has over $20,000 in legal fees already.

What are her options and what are her consequences?

09/28/08-green card received

1-751

07/02/10-mailed it 2day

07/06/10-they received my application forms

07/13/10-received notice receipt(gc extended for one year)

07/28/10-received biometric appointment

09/23/10 GC approved!!!

9/26/20 Gota pproval notice

10/01/10 GC receivedd

This story seems awfully familiar, though. Is this a continuation of an earlier post on the same situation?

I was wondering that as well. It does have a familiar ring to it.

I was wondering that as well. It does have a familiar ring to it.

she is in for a long and tough road. Didn't she know she could not vote? Like come on, really. Didn't her husband tell her "dearie, you are NOT a ctiziens, and only citizens can vote"? :wow:

Meaning this person is not going to be allowed to stay. This is a Major law that was violated here.

Voting

One of the most important privileges of democracy in the United States of America is the right to participate in choosing elected officials through voting. As a Permanent Resident you can only vote in local and state elections that do not require you to be a US citizen. It is very important that you do not vote in national, state or local elections that require a voter to be a US citizen when you are not a US citizen. There are criminal penalties for voting when you are not a US citizen and it is a requirement for voting. You can be removed (deported) from the US if you vote in elections limited to US citizens.

Now that you are an LPR

I remember I received one of those forms when I got my Driver's license, even after I presented only an EAD and other documentation showing that I was in process to get a Green Card. It can confuse people especially when you are not familiar to the language. I hope your friend and her family can fix this problem.

how did they know she voted? that is a state and county record and not federal area of concern..sounds like a firstbenjamin the troll story to me

I think is one of those "Have you ever..." questions, If somebody voted thinking it was the right thing to do, it would not be surprising that they Check "yes" to that question.
