Question time! I heard that if you schedule your first shot of Gardasil before your interview, that they won't require you to get the other two. Anyone know anything about that? Because I heard you have to wait like 5-6 months inbetween shots before you can get another one.

You'd still have to have the entire set completed by AoS time, I believe.

You can buy it by the vial, or you can buy it in a pre-filled syringe. The pre-filled syringes have a little spring inside them to help pop the need in - the nurse that did my shots said that the spring can make them pop in kind of quick, making it hurt a bit more.

I had my first two shots done with the pre-filled syringe and then the last with just a vial (they were all out of the syringe ones at my Shoppers) and they all hurt equally the same to me.

Ber - You could probably get away with just taking one shot. The second shot comes 2 months after the first and the third shot is 6 months after the first shot... so since you are CR1 if you were to have the 1 shot right before the interview/medical you would be okay since you don't have to file for AOS.

I would post how we did it if I could, but I think it would get moderated off of here. It wasn't exactly "legal" or "legit" or "moral" or whatever you want to call it. We "beat the system" for lack of a better term.

As I stated earlier, my bet is to say one is PREGNANT!! Pregnancy = no shot!! just a guess though, and of course the Dr would have to go along with it.

That's a great idea, but I doubt many doctors will lie for their patients, since it's against their ethics to lie

Although my doc is 100% for the Gardasil shot (though he told me something rather interesting about the brand, and another that was slated to be released around that time as well), he thinks it is ludicrous that I am being forced into getting it should I want to immigrate to the United States. He couldn't believe it when I told him, until I showed him the immunization requirements for my age group...

For myself personally, I am against getting it, and never would've gotten it had it not been for this process. However, I've yet to see someone post their success with a waiver (not that I'm aware of any condition I have that would allow for one anyhow), and I don't know if I'd really want to deal with further roadblocks to add onto the timeline. So I will bite my tongue, fork over the cash and get the first just prior to my interview.

If there is somehow, someway, to avoid getting the rest prior to AoS, I will certainly look into it.

Well, I'm CR-1, so I don't go through the paying $1010 for AOS. But, I'm going to find a way around it hopefully. I'm going to be paying $150 a shot, so 150 x 3 = 450. My husbands going to help me pay for the lot, but, I find of wish I could get the shots through his work then it'd be somewhat free. Well, good luck to everyone :3

I decided to get a wavier on it, I am in no way getting this ridiculous shot...I am a a nursing mother and I am not risking my child or self to it, yes I read that it is not known if it passes through milk, well that is more reason to get the wavier than something that isnt known how it effects breastfeeding mothers, breast milk is very iffy cause alot can pass through to the baby and no one person is the same so it is not worth the risk. Also I came across a statistic about it that now convinced me to not get it.

Merck reports that an increase in acute respiratory illnesses (300%) in breastfeeding infants whose mothers received Gardasil within 30 days of breastfeeding.

It may add on time etc.. but I'd rather than get something that could do worse.

I'm still super against this shot, but who knows. It could save my life one day.... or I could find out I have an allergic reaction to it.

I'm just not looking forward to putting out 360 dollars for it.

Here's hoping my fiance's medical coverage covers at least the last shot, since I should be getting two in Canada.

My fiance was so sweet when he read something about having to get a gardil shot and he said, "Ok I haven't had one of those so I guess I need one."

Seriously though HPV is an STD. Now those who are immigrating on a K1, K3 or CR1 Visa . . . well are we all married or getting married so it's not like the vaccine will even be useful!

If you get tested for HPV yearly and you don't have it, and you are getting married to someone who you should know has an STD or doesn't have an STD, then why would you optionally get the vaccine? That seems so silly to me, of course, in my personal opinion only.

The only way the shot would be beneficial is if one day your hubby comes home and tells you that he has been sleeping around. Otherwise, you wouldn't need to be protected against the STD if you are in a marriage and you are both faithful.

But who knows really. Maybe someone could be raped by someone who's known to be a carrier of STDs.
