I live in near SF (30 miles away) ... this summer has been like spring time, today was a little hot, but other than today and just a few more odd days, it has been cold here.

Recent weather makes me wonder but I really don't care if GW has any truth to it, because no matter, it is good to conserve.

This is exactly what feel-good lefties tell themselves.

You are living a farce if you think changing a light-bulb or plugging in your car rather than gasing up is going to make a big difference.

Every "green" person I know, all use their A/C, ...all live in houses which are why bigger than they need (over 1000sqft) that require way to much energy to build and maintain, they all have big TV screens and 32" -36" min refrigerators.

They dry clothes in the dryer, they have more clothes, gadgets, appliances than they can use.

Most drive to work, are too lazy to even have a garden but somehow..... somehow, they are going to "Do their part" by tossing the empty bottle of water in the recycling bin or buying a eco marketed car.

If the environment is in danger...You can't save it without seriously reducing consumption.

Bottom line is.... I'll know it's for real when the "Believers" start acting like it.

So far it is only -Group association-.

so, that gives other people the right to buy a big suv guzzler and burn tires, and give a darn about recycling?

I agree they are hypocritical but I'm not sure to what degree. Your list is an eye opener, I never thought of some of those things. They would probably say that they use their AC for health reasons, you know, there is always an excuse. Off topic, but some people say they "need" their cell phone for "EMERGENCIES", this is the only reason they "need" it, but when you tell them that a cell phone with no service can still contact 911, they redefine "EMERGENCY." There is always an excuse.

I was talking about using less... conserve... having an awareness ... no matter what source of energy is being used.

Recycling was jammed down our throats by a cooperation controlled congress. Trucks use to haul those 99.9% water based products from a distribution center to the stores and haul the empties back. Today, they go back empty leaving the mess with us, and we are expected to waste precious water and soap to clean "their" garbage first. Oh, and ain't we good when we recycle. Instead of one trash can, need a dozen.

Old church had a drive to collect aluminum pop cans, but a volunteer had to drive them to the nearest recycling place that was an 80 mile trip, church would have been much further ahead of that guy just gave his mileage money to the church.

Today's electronic have built in obsolescence, have to toss perfectly good stuff away because you can't use it anymore, and even with the high speed processors, adding so much ####### and glitter, they run slower than the older machines. One drop of water will wreck a notebook, cell phone, or a camera, more expensive garbage due to very poor design and not covered under any warranty. Also unrepairable, but with these things as well as household appliances that today also are made out of #######, have to pay a stiff recycling fee.

Replaceable parts are ridiculous, even if you do the work yourself if the drive and timer motor goes out on your clothes dryer, all that other stuff is still in great shape, cost more for those two parts than buying a new dryer! As an engineer, was told how much a product had to be made for, automotive is the same way. I have seen products that I designed that had to be manufactured for a $1.34 at dealers with a retail price of $156.00! Over a hundred times markup! So no one can really afford to repair a car, just toss it and buy a new one if you have to pay over a hundred times to repair an old one. Well, everything doesn't go bad, but enough to drive you insane.

Besides an unequal playing field, socialism, just another thing we have to put up with, recycling. The bleach used to recycle old paper is killing our lakes, rivers, and ground water and putting tree farmers, a green business, out of business. If you have dealt with the USCIS, you certainly wasted a lot of paper, but have to, it's the law.

Its a Danno list. No reason to take it seriously beyond trying to make normal observations out of things that aren't.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Some of what you say is relevant. The cost of garbage collecting has tripled, and the cost of storing all those "recyclables" has skyrocketted, as the bottom has fallen out of the market. For instance, yard waste is being used as a night time "landfill cover", instead of being turned into compost. What is left, somehow manages to spontaniously combust on a regular basis. Oops!

Once I move to a building with rooftop use ability... then we can talk about an organic urban garden too. For now its an indoor organic garden, as its been for the last couple of years.

I don't think I could live any place where I couldn't be at one with nature. There is something about yardwork that is humbling, and grounding, yet at the same time fulfilling.

I understand and have been there often in the past. For me its more than yardwork.

You are right, There is always an excuse.

It's like belonging to a Church where everyone intellectually agrees on whats right and wrong but not one person even tries to live it..... yet they stand in the street and demand everyone take their "end of the world" concepts seriously.

Actually thats a poor comparison, Religions are not funded by tax dollars to promote their agenda. Churches are not invited into the school lesson plan to evangelize and Religions can't force everyone to contribute once a week... at the curb

Seriously, the point that I hope to make is, "don't kid yourself" to make a meaningful change will Take a meaningful change.

To many businesses and groups are basically selling snake-oil which has absolutely no effect on the environment.
