Just spotted this video and wondered how close this is to what people here have faced? I know this is for non-immigrant and we're doing immigrant. It's nothing like I'd imagined not nearly as formal, more like the old deli counter in morrisons...lol

Everything is the same except in my country they call names instead of using numbers and no secure mail services, you have to go for your passport. Oh and i didn't see a snack bar.

That is exactly what it's like at the London embassy. Immigrant and non-immigrant visas are all processed in the same place, they are just allocated a different number sequence.

Very cool!

I didn't know they had a video about the big day. It's a good reference for those who are waiting to be interviewed in London for any US visa.

I noticed the bit about not being able to take bags into the embassy. Would you be able to take a briefcase/laptop bag in? I have ages to go before I am due my interview - just stressing early I guess!!

Sorry to bring back bad memories to some of you, really I am! But to know that's what it's like is a great relief. I've read the reviews here about interviews etc.. but then my overactive imagination kicked in... I'd be waiting in a cold, dark, barren corridor...with the occasional worker walking up and down making loud echos with their footsteps. Then a hard-faced lady wearing horn-rimmed glasses would summon me to a room where I'd stand before a panel of interrogators whose sole purpose was to destroy my dreams. After seeing the video I can see why many said it was anti-climactic if their imaginations are anything like mine...lol

I hope others find this useful too.

Yeurrrgh! Flashbacks!!!

Notice they really don't show the outside of the building. Ugliest building in London.

I agree! When I saw the steps it reminded me of shaking as I walked up them! lol. But that video does show what happens! Took them forever to get my fingerprints - I worked in food service so my fingers are all scarred and they could not get a clear print. At first the girl was saying I may have to come back until they heal until I pointed out they are healed they are just scarred!

my interviewer was really nice, even though he RFE'd me!

Awesome video....yes it was exactly like that

Pretty much the same, yeah. I remember how surprised I was to see the electronic "customer management" system of the big board and electronic voice calling out numbers. They use that same system here with the Department of Motor Vehicles! I was expecting something a bit more dignified.......

The only difference between now and 2005 - the consulate didn't collect all ten fingerprints back then. It was just the thumb and forefinger. As such, the little electronic pad for collecting prints was smaller.
