My parents blessed me with the spelling of my first name. Ugh. Nobody and I mean nobody ever gets the hyphen right (or the capital 'A" come to think of it) plus a lot of computer systems surprisingly can't seem to handle a non-alpha character. Sooooo about four years ago I decided to drop it; I kept the space but just dropped the hyphen. I'm having second thoughts and would like to go back to the original spelling so that the US passport I will get after becoming a citizen will be the same as my birth certificate. My question is, does this constitute a name change? Right now I have older legal documents with the hyphen and newer ones without it.

Thanks y'all,

Jo-Anne

It will be a name change if it does not match the name that is on your green card.
