Hello all,

Me and my fiancé met twice since last year, and we had everything set to send a K-1 petition, the only thing kept us waiting all this time is we didn't had a co-sponsor, i study and i don't make enough to be the sponsor so we needed a co-sponsor . but no luck yet.

so we decided that i'll take like a year off and start working, a new job that meets the required annual salary.

what i'm worndering about is, how long after i start this new job that i will be able to send the K-1 petition, or what's the time for a work required to be accepted. ?

Thank you very much,

Ashley.

You don't need a job to file an I-129f petition. The evidence of support is not needed until the interview. There is no specific time you must hold a job. If you get a job the day before you complete the I-134 at $40,000 per year you state your annual income as $40,000 per year. This is a subjective decison based on past, present and likely future employment. No ne can say "you must have job for 6 months" etc. Were I in any sort of "borderline" situation, not comfortable with it MYSELF, then I would get a co-sponsor.
