Military Record Necessary for University/military training program?

Hello,

My foreign fiance was in a ROTC type of program in Italy, where he went to University/served in the military at the same time in Taranto. Does anyone else in Italy have a similar situation? If so, did you need to provide a military record? He's asked for his, but just in case it's a hassle to procure, wanted to find out if anyone else bypassed this step in a similar situation.

Military Records

Available. The Foglio Matricolare is the usual record of military service. It gives complete details regarding military service, including convictions before court martials. Officers are issued the Stato di Servizio that contains more complete information than the Congedo Illimitato that is merely a discharge certificate. Military records may not be available to those who have not reported to their military district after leaving Italy. There is an fee for this service.

In our case my Wife served in the Chinese army, however we did not try to get military records because the reciprocity table from the state department told us they were NOT available.

If available yes. They will likely need to see his status, not necessarily his whole record. Ukraine has compulsary military service for all males 18-20 and we had to show our son was registered and had a student deferrment. So his current status should be sufficient.

Correct, the main reason for getting a military record, is if for some reason there is a mark on the military record for something that makes a person inadmissible may not show up on a police report.
