It's that time of year again!

Yes, as you all know, June is AlmostSortaEventuallyHalloweenmas! Which means that I get terribly excited about this:

You shouldn't take my excitement about this as any indicator of bravery, oh no. No. Despite the whining, begging, pleading, coercing, and threatening I go through every year to be taken to this wonderful event, I freely admit that I am the world's biggest puss. I often need to be dragged bodily on rides more exacting than the teacups, and will shiver and whimper like a cold, wet Chihuahua all throughout the queue. My husband is not above employing the sadistic sides of the various actors at every Halloween event to chase me into lineups for the haunted houses, because it's too much of a chore to convince me, yet again, that nothing is going to murder me. Universal has already begun sending out teaser propaganda for this October, and I look forward to shrieking like a maniac and having nightmares for the next month once again this year! We live less than an hour away from Universal Orlando, so we will be spending our anniversary there (again) for the blessed event.

So, what about you guys? Do you enjoy ze scaree tings? Why or why not? Movies, books, events that may or may not possibly be a coverup for a real interstellar horror beast that's using a haunted house as a basis to get your tender flesh? (Again, Rick assures me this is impossible. I say that's how they get you.)? Does anyone else share the love/hate/terrified-out-of-my-skull relationship with horror that I do?

Come on! We Canadians are tough!

hehehehe it is a waste of money for me to go and see a horror movie at the movie theatre - I spend the whole time with my hands covering my eyes. I am not into scary or frightening things - never have been - although I have enjoyed a few haunted houses. I used to love roller coasters but I don't think I am really up for anything more exciting than the merrry-go-round now. I would love it even more if it were real horses - I love riding. Take me to the stables, not to the Halloween' horror shows :D .

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Scary things are to me...thrilling. I don't go out of my way to go to things. I've been in a few "haunted" houses, and the adrenaline almost made me sick to my tummy. I love horror movies. Maybe because I can get away easier? Rides though, hmmm, if things go "around" I get ill as well. I'm one of those people that love the thrill of being scared...AFTER it happened.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Halloween and scary things! As I get older, I prefer my scary movies to have a psychologically scary aspect to them .... to me, people are much scarier than creatures like the Chupacabra. I adore haunted houses. Last year, there was an amazing event at a local ski hill on Halloween ... chairlift to the top of the mountain and a haunted maze there. Unfortunately, we couldn't find a babysitter, so hubs and I missed it :( I love amusement park rides with heights (ferris wheels, roller coasters). I hate whirly spinning things like tilt-a-whirl, cuz it makes me sick to my stomach.

I have a love-hate affair with heights. I am fairly terrified, but I push myself into situations to face my fear (i.e., went skydiving, always ride ferris wheels, go to the top of a huge skyscraper and press myself against the glass and look down).

As I have a kid now, I do think about the consequences of my love for scary things ..... For instance, when we visited family in CT for Memorial Day, we went to a local carnival. I got all excited and dragged hubby on the ferris wheel, but after the attendant let us on and we started going around, I couldn't help fixating on that fact that he was stoned and probably the person who put the ride together in the first place and possibly in his drug haze, forgot to include an essential thingamajiggy. So, I spent half the ride in fear that my baby would be an orphan because mommy HAD to ride the ferris wheel. But after a little while, I got over that fear and truly enjoyed the experience of being so high in the air.
