Ok so I am new to this, so please bear with me...lol. Ok I am in love with a aussie and we both want to get married. I live in Texas. My question is. How long will it be befor a k-1 will go through, and when it does, How long will it take for the paper work to be final so we can get married? I just don't want the love of my life to get here and everything is great, but she gets taken away from me because of some paper work error. If anyone recently has been through this please hit me up with some info...lol. Thanks.

current timeline here is 6-8 months.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

You will find a half dozen or so people on this site that have been through it fairly recently. :)

6-8 months for visa in hand. As soon as she arrives you can get married. If there is any paperwork errors after she arrives, they are your errors. You will get married (within 90 days) and file for the AOS.

6-8 months is typical, but be aware that your application may take longer. There are many things that can cause delays along the way, but don't be discouraged! This site is an excellent resource and many of us here have successfully completed the visa process on our own. Paperwork errors can usually be corrected, we are all human and have been known to make mistakes. There are multiple outlets along the way that allow you to correct mistakes if they are made as long as you are honest and not deceitful when you make them. The waiting is painful at times, but its something we all go through. Patience and persistence!

Congrats on the engagement and good luck with everything :)
