After several months of waiting (and yes, we realized how lucky we were), my fiancee' and I are pretty much done with the K-1 process. She had her interview in Moscow yesterday and was approved. Unfortunately I couldn't be there. Now she just has to put notice in at her job and pack her bags! Some interesting observation she reported back to me that may be of some use, or maybe not helpful at all for your situation:

1. Fiancee' reported that entire process at Embassy was much quicker than when she was there for her tourist visa last year. Very quick getting in and everyone very polite.

2. She stated that the young man who interviewed her kept trying to ask her questions in Russian, but she insisted on answering in English because she wanted the practice (and to show that she was fluent in English). He finally relented and began speaking to her in English. :-) She said he was a very nice man and very friendly.

3. Some of the usual questions, nothing off the wall. He asked her about my birthdate, what my job is, how did we meet, my father's name, where was I born, why do you think he is the man of your life, what do you have in common, why did I get divorced. Then he asked her several questions about her own life. Nothing off the wall. The only question where she made a mistake was when he asked if I was divorced when we first met. She answered, "yes." This was technically not true (she knew this but just forgot). I had been separated for 6 months by the time we met and the paperwork was already in the court pipeline, but my divorce didn't become official until about 1 month after we met. Apparently a minor error because he didn't say anything.

4. Interesting instructions from him concerning her pre-existing tourist visa because this topic has come up on VJ before: He told her that her tourist visa would still be good and to remind the POE officer of her K-1 and make sure to point to it in her passport. He said otherwise it was possible they would enter her on her B-2, and this would cause a huge headache later.

That's it! He told her "congratulations" and "have a pleasant life." Overall, a fairly pain free process and of course we are very excited. I wish everyone here continued luck in their journey, especially those who are still waiting.

congrats

My fiance has even easier experience on April 2. Only one question. How do you communicate? Truth is I know little Russian and my fiance has poor English. She just said we manage OK and he smiled and said OK ! She said some of the other interviewers did not seem so friendly from what she could hear.

Received the actual visa after 3 work days !

11 were applying and 9 got OK. Two who met men when on student and work visas were denied. My guess is U.S. is supicious of original intentions.
