First off i'm hoping this is in the right place. I'm new to this so...

Anyway, i am applying for the K1 visa soon, but my question is, Is it possible to apply for it when moving to one state (and that being the address on the forms) but get married in a different state, as long as it's withing the given timeframe...?

I'd appreciate any help, i'm kinda lost about all this. I've found this site a great help with lots of things though.

Thank you

J

Yep!

We applied when my husband (then fiance) lived in Maryland. Not long after the petition was received and approved he was transferred to Florida, which is where we married. It does, however, become a pita when the petitioner moves prior to the NOA2 due to the difficulty in getting the NVC to send mail to the correct address. As long as the address doesn't change for the beneficiary you shouldn't have any problem receiving your correspondence.

Are you moving before the petition gets approved?

If so, just update your address with USCIS.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

You can get marreid in any state you want, you don't even have to live there. Your fiance should keep his address current with the USCIS or NVC so he gets all his mail notices
