My I-130 for parents came back!!!! I sent in a check for $355 and they are saying that the amount is not sufficient... DO i have send in two checks? I was under the impression that for parents, even though we file two application we only have to submit one fee...

please enlighten me!

It took us 1496 days from day I filed I-130 to Citizenship & Oath.

Why do you think that? For each one of your parents you fill out a separate I-130, right? So each petition must have an accompanying fee. I do not see any special concessions as to the filing fee in the I-130 instructions.... :unsure:

my cousin filed two years ago and only had to pay one fee both parents, so not sure if the rule has changed...

It is usually best to follow the directions that accompany each petition. I glanced at the I-130 instructions I posted, and there is no exception for the filing fee and since a separate form is filled out for each relative, that means two petitions = two fees. Refile everything and include two separate checks for $355 each.

Bad idea to compare your case to one filed in the past. Regulations change. And this is too important to not be precise.

Two petitions = two filing fees.

Thank you all for help. I've refiled with corrected fees.
