do i need statements from the bank of how much i deposited in the past year as well as how much i have currently in the bank ?

the i-134 instructions say i do. i have read others say only if you are using assets for means of support.

i don't have much money saved at all but i well exceed the 125% poverty guidelines.

so, do i need the bank information ?

i am thinking they might deny it if i dont have much money saved.

Or , since i exceed the 125% poverty guidelines.... will i be good to go either way ?

thanks for your help.

if you exceed the 125% poverty guideline then you DON'T have to but how much you deposit, how much money you have, how much property you own, etc........

ok thanks but it sounds like you were going to say something after the "but" ....

sorry, i meant to say "put"

Bank letters and statements are optional. They have other purposes besides assets. For example the year before we filed i was self employed for 10 months of the year. Providing a bank letter withh statements of deposits was a good check and balance that I really made what I said. At least I thought so. The consulate never looked at it anyway.

If your income from your job exceeds the guidelines and you have had that job and have a history of verifiable income from the previous year, you do not need the bank letter. We will be doing another K-2 this year and I will not use the bank letter this time as my 2008 return, w-2, plus current verifiable income is plenty sufficient. That is all I will give them.
