They will interview only the beneficiary, but it is good practice for the petitioner to be there as well. It can be a very long wait, and the children might simply be in the way.

Yes, the beneficiary needs a sponsor. He should already have received a package from the embassy with the application for the visa, various other forms, instructions, and a form I-134, which the sponsor is required to complete. This can be downloaded from the USCIS website. The beneficiary must have this form with him on the day of the interview. The I-134 requires various kinds of proof of the sponsor's ability to support the family when it is together.

Do we need a sponsor for k1 visa?? We are having our interview at the consuate in Cd Juarez Mexico. Are they only going to interview him or both of us.... how about my kids shouold I take them

The Juarez Embassy only allows the beneficiary to enter the embassy. It would be pointless for you to go to Juarez with him because you would just have to wait outside--for hours and hours! You have to make over 125% of the poverty guidelines in order to be his sponsor. If you don't qualify, you will also need to have a co-sponsor.
