Hello everyone. My name is Chris. Last year I met Joyce online. This year I plan on meeting her in person. I personally know at this point that I will be purposing to her for marriage. The question I need answered is, "What forms do I need to take, to have singed, when we first meet?" I cant wait to finally hold her close, as I'm 27 now and she's 24. Smiles. Thank you so very much for all your feedback. God bless your caring hearts:)

Take the G325a and a copy of the I-129F and get the G325a for her completed and signed. I-129F can be draft of information applicable to her.

Don't forget to prepare and have her sign a letter of intent (see example forms) and she will need a passport photo for the G-325 as well. While you're there take plenty of pictures and save all evidence of your trip.

Best bet is to visit the K-1 Guides here on VJ and read through all you can in the links at the top of the forums. Go down the checklist and put your petition together so you can get it sent straight away. ;)

good luck to you and welcome to VJ.

I've been trying to dispell the misconception that passport pictures have anything to do with the G325a. They don't. They are simply listed next in the list of required documentation, so we logically list them there in the cover letter and place them there in the stack of papers. Passport pictures are supplied in support of the petition, not the G325a.

Should we rule out a passport photo for her at this point? And how far down the line is she gonna need it?

You will need to get a passport-style photo from her to file your petition. Pushbrk was speaking to another issue, not implying that you don't need it.

You have the answers you need.

I will make one more suggestion. Get your fiancee to sign TWO "original" G-325 forms and TWO "original" letters of intent and have at least TWO passport photos. She will be a long way away and if something gets lost in the mail, etc. you will be able to whip out another petition immediately. Those things (the g-325 and intent letter) must have original signatures. Also make copies for your files.

And don't forget to keep your boarding passes, take plenty of photos (though one or two will do). When you come back, you will have all you need (plus back-up)

Oh yea, and don't forget TO HAVE A GREAT TIME TOGETHER. Don't stress too much over the visa proof - you'll have it with a bonafide relationship anyway. What couple doesn't want to keep the memories :)?

It's a good idea to have your gf sign two copies just in case.

Agreed. However, given that people forget to add the photos at times, why not associate them with a specific document? For those on the front end of this process, any hints or reminders will be beneficial. Hindsight is 20/20.

No "why not?" at all. Associate them with the I-129F just like all the other supporting documents. That elevates their importance a level.

Then we should specify that, in basic terminology. Petition? That has specific meaning to those that understand the meaning of petition (I-129F). For those at the front end of the process, they may not understand that the petition for alien Fiance = I-129F.

Yes, the pictures support "petitions" whether I-129F or otherwise but this is the K1 forum. The same kind of pictures are used for other purposes too.
