I would have held an untouchable nest-egg just for this purpose. Billionaire? How could you be broke enough to off yourself?

The poor guy got caught in the Volkswagen short squeeze - reportedly lost over $1bn.

From what I understand he was worth 12 billion & lost 3 billion. That's a whole lot of money, but he was still worth 9 billion! I don't know all of the details about his life, but I can't imagine a good reason to kill yourself if you are worth 9 billion dollars.

I doubt it was about the money.

He was about to lose Ratiopharm as well as other big parts of his group of companies.

To me this looks like a tragic story of a true entrepreneur (as opposed to some greedy contract CEO who would have gladly parachuted out of any such mess to go on creating the next) who could not bear the sight of all he lived and worked for crumble right in front of him.

He was rich, but weak in the mind. Sad really.

Committing suicide isn't necessarily a sign of a weak mind. Many suicides are sparked from severe depression.

Depression doesn't really care if your rich, poor, or Oprah. It's an emotion that doesn't reason and it doesn't consider common theory.

Thats depressing.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.
