We are preparing all the documents to file the petition. There is a confusion regarding Police certificate. Do both of us have to provide the Police certificate or only the petitioner will provide it. If it is mandatory for both of us then kindly tell me that how many certificates do I(beneficiary) need. I have been moving from one city to another over the past 5 years for work and study. Will I need a police certificate only from my permanent address( 1997-Present) or do I have to provide certificate from other cities as well where I spend a year or two while I was studying and working.

Thanking you in anticipation.

It is the beneficiary that needs the police certificates.

Police certificates must be furnished if:

If the applicant is living in their country of nationality at their current residence for more than 6 months and they are 16yrs or older.

If the applicant lived in a different country for more than 12 months and was 16 years or older at that time.

If the applicant was arrested for any reason, regardless of how long they lived there and was any age at the time.

Note: Police certificates will be valid for countries not cities.

Thanks for help. Do I need to send this Police Certificate to my fiancee before filing the petition or I have to provide this to Embassy at the time of interview. I have lived in three cities since I tured 16 so getting ceritficates from all three cities will take some time. So shall we ask for the police certificate or can we file the petition and get the police certificate after that.

The certificate needs to be provided at the interview at the embassy. Depending on how long it takes to get one depends on when you should apply for it. The are usually, for immigration purposes, valid for one year.

As I said before you don't need one for each city, just for the country. Say you lived in three cities in one country (for over 12months) you will only need one certificate, a certificate for that country. However if you have lived in three different countries for over a year each, other than your country of residence, you will need three certificates.

So if my fiance has only been in the country of her birth (Philippines) does she even need a police certificate?

According to the below statement, yes.

If the applicant is living in their country of nationality at their current residence for more than 6 months and they are 16yrs or older.

However it's probably worth posting your question in the Phillipines forum as I believe they have some sort of additional check? I was corrected before last time I mentioned something about certificates in the Phillipines.
