Thanks for all the suggestions everyone :)

I have purchased almost all of my son's books online. Some of the websites are: collegetextbooks.com; amazon.com; ecampus.com. I also sell back a majority of his books back to these companies when he is through. I have only had problems with one website and that was taking over 3 months for them to pay me. That was only one bad experience over a 4-year period.

Yes.. My husband buys his books online. He gets it within the week. And also, it saves him time, effort, esp money.

half.com is great!! Bought majority of my nursing books on there

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

If you can get the International Edition you will save a lot of money! They are the exact same books except with a different cover, only the price is about 50% cheaper. I use Amazon and Ebay

India, gun buyback and steamroll.

When I went to college, the bookstore was a heaven of bargains, Purchased a stack of engineering handbooks, a big fat Pickett slide rule, a Post drawing set, all silver imported from Germany, papers, pencils, everything was a huge bargain. That is ancient history today, a big ripoff, pay two-three times as much today as other places, and use books that are obsolete, but you gotta have them for the course that you can't find anyplace else.

Got a little irritated at my step daughter being suckered into buying MS Office, an academic version with a limited license that renders that program useless after a year or two. Could have gotten the full version much cheaper off the web without that limited license. It's a problem, and well thought out to cream you, you were lucky to find some books. Average cost back then was about four bucks a book, a big fat brand new book.

Did take a couple of courses in computer languages, they don't teach anymore, listen to BS while in class, then told to read a zillion chapters and write a program. Professors are making over $100K per year and don't even show up have the time and enjoying a six week break over Christmas just to go back for a couple of weeks for spring break. In the meantime, my property school tax was gone up 20% this last year, and tuition rates have skyrocketed. What a ripoff. But you gotta have that piece of paper today, they know that, and are taking full advantage of it.
