You think so? The way I look at it this journalist was making a political statement at someone who had basically destroyed his country.

The same country where had he tried a stunt like this (or even just tried to make a political statement) with Saddam in power, he and his family would have probably vanished from the planet...? That same "basically destroyed" country?

I wouldn't relativise the issue and I suspect the shoe thrower didn't either.

What kind of irritates me is why people expect gratitude from the population. We removed Saddam sure - but we put that country through years of almost civil war with a death toll many times that of 9/11. I tend to think that the people have a right to be angry.

Like 3/4 of a million people losing their lives with many more wounded, but wounded doesn't count. Saddam also had his problems with his people that he solved by killing them, our solution was different, we killed them in the name of peace and democracy.

Worse part, was living in Iraq without air conditioning, that would tee anybody off.

Yup. I tend to think that when a population has basically been railroaded for years - first by Saddam, then by the US - expecting them to be happy-happy-joy-joy is asking a bit much. They have a right to be angry IMO.

Someone hit Tony Blair with a custard pie a few years ago, and John Prescott got into a fistfight with a guy who threw an egg on his suit.

Also some guys threw flour from the public gallery in the House of Commons as part of a protest.

I don't have a problem with it.

Bush is the most vile and criminal President we've ever had, bar none, and a shoe to the face is just too good for him. Having said that....####### how about those reflexes? That was seriously impressive. Must be all those years of dodging responsibility, the truth, the press, common sense, intellectual curiosity...but I digress

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Why how dare this reporter to throw his filthy shoes at GW Bush, for if it were not for W, the fearless leader of the free world, that pinhead Iraqi would be scraping poop off the floor of one of Sadaams many sweatshops still! What an ingrat! Bush needs to hire Blackwater ops to go in and take this guy out and make an example of him, that this type of behaviour will not be tolerated in the free world ever!

The reporter is gaining popularity in Iraq. He's turning into some kind of "Joe the Plumber" - the ME version.

Too bad this did not happen to Gordon Brown, he sure needs it, what a crook he is!
