US Birth Certificate

Hello,

I'm filing an I-129 petition and it says that I need to copy both the front and back of my birth certificate. I had to order a short form online. There is nothing on the back. Do I need another kind of birth certificate? Should I copy the blank back of my birth certificate?

As silly as it sounds - we copied the back of our BC (which was blank) and hand wrote "Back of Birth Certificate" on it and sent it in. Some BCs do have text/graphics on the back - it is probably no big deal, but just in case.

Think about it... When you copy the front side, you automatically have a copy of the back side... the blank side does not need to be on a separate piece of paper but simply a blank side of a piece of paper whioh you already have with the front page copy....

short form/long form does not matter... what matters is if the parental information is on the birth certificate... if parental information is included then you are good to go

It has my parents' names, my birth data and my footprints on the back and my name, etc. on the front with my parents' names as a couple. It has the hospital name and a raised seal. I also have the original envelope from the hospital with the postmark and a baptismal certificate a month after my birth. Is this an "official" birth certificate? I have just over 4 years left in my passport and don't want delays in the process such as sending out to get an official birth certificate- though I don't want to send in something that will delay it either. Any suggestions? I'm getting our original packet ready and I want to make sure everything is right from the start. Thank you.

Most photo copiers don't make pristine copies--there is evidence that it is a copy because of debris. Sending a blank sheet and calling that a copy of the back may not necessarily be a good idea unless every other copy that you include is absolutely perfect.

I used a Post-it note on mine.

In lieu of a birth certificate you can make a copy of ALL pages of your passport and submit that as evidence of being a US citizen. Or simply request a copy from the county you were born in.

I guess I used my birth certificate. I got my first passport more than 15 years ago, so I don't remember- Plus my parents were there to help me with that.

You're right- cute...but useless- and since my passport only has 4 years left, it appears my only option is to get an official birth certificate- a small delay...yes, I'm impatient- especially when I see red tape

As EminTX did, I just a post-it note on my birth certificate stating the original was a single sided sheet, and signed that post-it note. No RFE.

The problem is that my birth certificate that I have (or can find at this moment) is from the hospital and thus not considered official. I imagine that if the USCIS people look at what docs I could send as people and not as bureaucrats, I'd be ok- but I'm not willing to take that chance
