Hi All,

I received my NOA1 dated Sept. 4th but have never been able to check my online status nor use the automated phone service with my tracking/receipt number. I double checked my receipt number and it is the same on both my NOA1 and cashed check.

I called USCIS and after getting passed from the first operator to a second one (presumably some time of supervisor/hire-up), they looked my up by name. They found my name/address/fiancée's name no problem, so that was assuring. They told me to wait until a month had passed and it should show up. I did that and called back, went through the same process and was told to wait another month. I then received a letter in the mail acknowledging that I had called and reported a problem and it said that the IT dept. was looking into it and I should feel free to call again. I called back this week and was told, "Don't worry about it, that online tracking doesn't really serve much of a purpose anyway, it's totally unrelated to our internal system which you're in." I asked if they could look up my case number to see if it match the one I had (perhaps there was a mistake/typo), but was told that she didn't have a case number there. I asked if she could do anything so that I could at least follow my status and I was told "no". So helpful, right?!?!

Any thoughts? Should I be concerned? Should I let it go? Should I keep calling and try to get to the bottom of it?

Thanks to all you helpful people!!! May we all get our NOA2s soooooooooon!!!!!

The online status system hasn't been up to speed for at least a year. You are wasting your time calling, in my opinion. Sometimes a case NEVER makes the online system, and moves along smoothly anyway...even though it seems to take a long time. Sometimes it spits out an incorrect e-mail or update. The main thing, I guess, is that USCIS is doing its best to keep up with the flow of applications and petitions but the delays in processing are not getting any shorter.
