I decided to hire a lawyer in this process and she seemed experienced and like she knew what she was doing. That said, there are a couple of things that she didn't include in the packet that I now wish I had pushed for and I am worrying I might get and RFE. In terms of my lawyer filling out papers, I'm confident that she did all that right, and where we wrote about events in our statements the lawyer included things like "see photos at tab 1" and "see receipts at tab 2." I am just worried about evidence and I hope I'm just being paranoid and would love any advice you more experienced folks have.

My lawyer included photos and some receipts and my boarding passes, a copy of my passport and a few emails as well as our statements, all of which seemed great. I had a TON of other documentation when I was at her office, but she said that she knew what the USCIS was looking for and there was no need to send in too many things. My main worries are the following:

In our application she included bus tickets (two round trip tickets) to document a trip we did together (we had mentioned this trip in our application and included photos), however they had no names on the tickets. She DIDN'T include the plane ticket receipts for a flight we took together that DID have our names on it. All the receipts she included (which weren't many), had no identification of names - incidentally, we had some receipts with our names on them that she didn't include (all pretty generic hand written from bed and breakfast type places).

She DIDN'T include receipts I had for engagement rings (in Brazil both the man and woman gets one), nor any other gift receipts and said it was unnecessary.

My fiancée is pregnant and she did include an ultra-sound and doctors report from 8 weeks (we're now at 17!!!) and perhaps she felt that trumps all, but I'm nervous as you can imagine.

Of course my fiancée will bring all the above mentioned documents to her interview, but I'm just hoping there is no risk of RFE.

Thanks for any help and good luck to all!!!

I wish we'd put more photographs of us together in our pack , we found this site after we had filed.

Its a long process and the more I think about "I wish I'd done this or that" the more frustrated I get.

Shannon is my rock and she keeps telling me if they want more evidence they can have it, from looking at ppl's RFE's on here it should only hold things up for 10-14 days so after waiting 4-6 months if we get one we do. At least i know someone has looked at the file and its not propping up a table somewhere!!!

K1 129 days to approval

K1 179 days to interview

EAD 45 days to approval

AP 45 days to approval

AOS 69 days to approval

as long as the lawyer included evidence that you met in the two years prior to filing the petition, you should be fine.

You will be fine. All they're wanting to know is if you two met in the last two years. Your passport with your stamps into Brazil and the pictures of you two together are sufficient. The other documents you will take to the interview, but more than likely, they will not even ask to see it. However, take it to the interview just in case.

I've read in other threads here that sometimes an engagement ring for a man can be mistaken for a wedding ring, and there can be questions about whether a marriage has taken place already and consequently, they make you file for a K3 instead.

Plane itineraries are not as good as tickets sometimes even if they have names on them, because you can get itineraries printed out and not actually take the flight. They like actual boarding passes and baggage claim tags with dates on them. A cancelled ticket shows someone actually went somewhere, and with photos of the two of you at the location that seems pretty good.

Same with the handwritten bed and breakfast receipts - too easy to fake and not as good as other documentation. Still, it's good to have all this in reserve in case you need it.

It sounds like you'll be fine; it seems like your attorney had some pretty good reasons for not including some of the documentation so not to worry!

I went through a lawyer too. He had a whole laundry list of things that I should include.

I would trust yours, since they probably keep up with the latest and greatest things concerning the USCIS.

Mine went through with no RFEs, just took forever Exactly - 6 months to the date of receipt.

I don't think you need to prove the extent of your relationship at this point (that may come later). All you need to show is that you have met during the past two years, and you intend to marry within 90 days of her arrival. Many of us include lots of pictures and receipts, etc., and some embassies ask more questions than others. I think you are in good shape based on what you told us.

Thank you all for the reassuring thoughts. It's really helpful for peace of mind.

No need to worry, I only submitted 10 photos, 1 set of boarding passes, 3 copies of emails, phone records for 1 month, and copies of my passport stamps, USCIS mainly wants to know that you have met in person. My fiancee will be here tuesday.

keep all your records for the interview, in case they ask for it, however, they didnt ask me for anything, they just indirectly ask questions that solidify your love.

There a couple comments I would like to make

#1 I have an attorney and he isnt worth a damn

#2 if you want something done and done correct without having any regrets and big hole in your stomach

DO IT YOURSELF....I have seen most people do it coming from the most difficult consulates and honestly

ALL AROUND THIS WHOLE PROCESS IS ENOUGH TO KILL SOMEONE

At some of the higher fraud Consulates it's sometimes recommended to send additional bonafide proof of your relationship along with your initial petition because many times the CO handling your case at the Embassy will form an opinion of your relationship even before the interview. Therefore, it's often recommended to send along as much as you can when dealing with these Consulates who seem more common to deny a visa ....before they approve. ;)

However, at the lower fraud Consulates this is not as necessary and in most cases, the additional information wont even be looked at.

I wouldn't worry too much about not sending more at this stage but do have it available for the interview stage just in case they ask. ;)

good luck
