Hello to all,

I am in USA and my fiancee she is in Thailand

I have question about Affidavit of Support.

I was told I can not have a co-sponsor. "quote" Co-sponsors are not permitted for fiancee visas, is this correct?

My 2007 tax return is below the $18,500 (aprox) income requirement. I am in a way self employed, but I do not work under a business license, and I work as an independant without contract for various companies. I originate applications for the companies to do business with new customers. I can not go to an employer like many people and ask for letter stating current employment and income. I am on my own. I can not prove income at all for 2008. However I can show substancial deposits in my bank account over the year.

Also, I do have an investment account that shows enough support for 3 years.

ReCap:

1, Can I use a co-sponsor for fiancee visa?

2, Do I have to show 2007 tax return?

3, Is the investment account which shows enough support for 3 years sufficent on it's own?

4, Is it possible to use co-sponsor along with statement of investment account to meet requirements?

5, Can I use statement of investment along with bank deposits?

6, Shpuld I go with the combination of 2007 return, Investment account and Bank Deposits?

7, Where can I find offical guidelines other then the "instructions" for Affidavit of Support? (It does not answer my questions completely)

Thank you for all your help and replies... good luck to all!

The statement is not correct until you add the EMPHASIS IN RED, then it becomes a true statement

Post this question in the sawasdee thread, which is a thread specifically pertaining to THAILAND VISAS.

But to answer your MAJOR question, NO Bangkok does not allow co-sponsors anymore for some stupid reason.

When we had affidavit of support questions the Bangkok embassy directed us to the Visa Services line in DC, and they were actually quite helpful. Just be prepared to wait on hold for ten minutes or more while you're waiting to talk to a visa specialist. Even though Bangkok doesn't "technically" accept co-sponsors, it can't hurt to slip them the paperwork through the window along with your I-134 and supporting documents. The latter is my opinion. I do not know if my DIL's visa would have been approved in July without my husband's back-up info or not. We will never know, because the consular officer didn't say. He didn't return any of the documents, so they are probably in that brown envelope that will be going through the POE.
