Hello to all,

I am in USA and my fiancee she is in Thailand.

I have question about Affidavit of Support.

I was told I can not have a co-sponsor. "quote" Co-sponsors are not permitted for fiancee visas, is this correct?

My 2007 tax return is below the $18,500 (aprox) income requirement. I am in a way self employed, but I do not work under a business license, and I work as an independant without contract for various companies originating applications for the companies to do business with. I can not go to an employer like many people and ask for letter stating current employment and income.

However I do have an investment account that shows enough support for 3 years.

Can I use the statement for investment along with a co-sponsor without 2007 tax return?

ReCap:

1, Can I use a co-sponsor for fiancee visa?

2, Do I have to show 2007 tax return?

3, Is the investment account which shows enough support for 3 years sufficent on it's own?

4, Is it possible to use co-sponsor along with statement of investment account to meet requirements?

5, Where can I find offical guidelines other then the "instructions" for Affidavit of Support? (It does not answer my questions completely)

Thank you for your replies

Each Consulate is very different in the standards they set for the I-134. Most use the guidelines set by the I-864 because you will need to file this at adjustment. You will need to find out just what they need from you.

Being self-employed I needed proof that I had a standing contract with some of the people I work for and proof that I had worked for them in previous years as well. NZ cares little about the I-134 so you will need to find out just what will be requested of you.

For questions regarding Thailand you will want to ask the 'experts' who have gone through that Consulate... you can find them here.
