I personally have gone through a massive stage of worshiping each of these legendary acts, but Slayer get my vote overall.

Oh btw, anyone under 30 that votes on this poll, you're only allowed to consider pre-Black Album Metallica - that's when they were brilliant, not the pathetic pale shadow of their former magnificence they are now.

In the Eighties I was into those four bands big time, and I still listen to them with pleasure. That said, I find Metallica a cut above the rest - before they put out the massively overrated, terminally boring "Black Album.

I have seen all of these bands in concert, loved them all, but gave the edge to Anthrax...this was really a difficult decision!

And I agree; the Metallica decline (rather steep one) began with the Black album.....

But I really just wanted to say that Chuck Behler (drummer for Megadeth in the late 80s) was my neighbor growing up. His mother was a complete fruit loop.

Yeah Sepultura are (or rather were) the nuts, and you could also add Pantera to the list, but I wanted to keep this particular poll limited to the groups that were collectively known as "The Big 4" throughout the 80's.
