Are you talking about the costs from applying to receiving the Visa? Or the costs of up and moving out here?

The costs for the application itself is $455 but you've already sent that off so I assume you know about that. I believe there's another fee of $130? for the Visa when it comes time for the interview. As for that there's the fees for mailing off the forms and such to different places and getting photos and such.

I was talking about the whole process, if anyone knows how much it all costs, our lawyer said about $2500 to budget, but I was looking at the vacinations, the visa fee..

we already paid her and he wanted to make sure our stuff was done properly, she came recommended his co-worker is using the same lawyer to get her family over from somewhere, she isnt that expensive because she works with a charity, I did have a look around at lawyers and i feel that i would rather have someone hand holding me thru the process...if i had found this site and all you wonderful people I would probably have opted out. but shes great and i appreciate her work

For the medical you are looking at 180 pounds (about $360) since your SO is a Brit the NHS may offer to give any vaccines he needs for free.

$2500 sounds about right to me, we have spent around $1600 probably more (not including AOS of course).

On the visa process alone, so far we have spent roughly $400 on filing fee, medical, embassy fee, POE fee (we filed before the K1 fee increased. AOS was $1010.

But, we spent much much more on flights between here and Germany, he paid about €250 to move his belongings to America, plus the wedding costs and the actual savings he had to keep us afloat until he receives EAD.

The thing to consider aside from the actual fees relating to the visa is how often you'll want to visit and how much money you'll need to have put aside to cover your expenses until you can work. Technically I make enough money alone to support our family, but it's nice having his savings there if we need it.

Good luck.

i'm guessing this page is still current, but this is the knightsbridge fees for medicals and vaccinations.

also i can't remember if the new police certificate was £40 or £10 i think it went up from £10 when they brought the new one out. so maybe £40

$200-500 approx for medical costs - Is that for the whole exam that you take after you get married? To become a permanent resident?

I was wondering if it's possible to get all my Vaccinations in Canada and bring a proof that I got them already? I know I've had most of them already..

I'm new to these forums... my fiance is coming to visit me on October 4th and we are going to fill out the I-129F and gather all the infos we need... I'm really nervous about all this =/ I just found this website and I think I'll be using it a lot!!

Thanks for the answers :)

But if they're filing under the K-1 the foreign fiance isn't required to get the vaccinations at the medical exam. They can wait till they're here in the US and get them done for much cheaper, as long as it's done before the AoS.

It's not always cheaper to get them done in the US. This is why most people get them done before they come over by their own physician or the panel physician.

Nobody can tell you what the vaccinations costs will be. If you know you've had many of them and have a record of that then bring it to your medical. You will still need some blood work and xrays. My fiance had all his vaccinations as well and the appointment cost him about $200.

good luck

Not everybody wants to do it themselves.

Not everyone should.

A consult with a competent immigration attorney is the very LEAST a person should have before they begin this journey.

Advising readers to NOT seek legal representation is careless advice.

Yeah Kim. How dare you offer advice. What's wrong with you?

She's perfectly capable of offering advice and quite good at it.

But there's a disclaimer on the face of this board advising readers to never use this community as a substitute for competent legal counsel.

It's. That. Simple.

PS - I'm not sure if it's that giant chip on your shoulder or your entitlement attitude that affects your ability to read. When you figure out whichever one it is, come back and try to pick a fight with me.
