Others may correct me. But I have always been under the assumption that they usually process based on your I-130 dates and not when I-129 has been filed. I-130 initiates the process and it would be logical to use that date.

actually, i confirmed this with the immigration officer i spoke to at VSC a while back...he mentioned that the K3 applications are processed via the I-130 dates and not I-129F....so, there are at least 3-4 approvals on this forum due before me.

I got both I-130 and I-129F approved on Sept. 5th. I am going to go with the IR-1. Even though it may take an extra 60 days or so, it is worth it not to have to deal with USCIS for 10 years. My wife can work right away, there is no AOS so it's cheaper in the long run. I know that we will probably be apart for 6 weeks longer because of NVC, but I want to be done with all of this once she goes through immigration at the airport. It has definitely confirmed to me that the government doesn't have a clue.

(I'm going for the IR-1 and blowing off the K-3. Even if it takes an extra couple months, it's worth it to not have to deal with USCIS again)

Note:

Please fill out I-130, wait 6 months for approval, then 3 more months for an interview. (Unless of course we've bombed your country into the stone age, then you qualify for expedited processing.)

Welcome to the USA!!!

I don't think I would go the CR1 route. Still not a 100 percent sure though.

We've waited very long, and God knows when we'll get the approval. And from what I've read, going CR1 could take longer than just a weeks extra. NVC sometimes loses cases (I read about somewhere on VJ whose case got to NVC after a whole year!) . Also other things can take time, more chances of getting an AP after the interview, etc.

Will have to deal with AOS later but atleast we'd be together through it all, that's what matters.

Your K-3 will go through NVC as well, so they could lose it just as easily. But everyone has different needs, so it's actually good that USCIS gives you the choice.

(Did I just use "good" and "USCIS" in the same sentence. I must be drunk.)
