I opened our mail box and found my greencard waiting for me now. I really wasn't expecting it so quickly! But I'm glad it's over with (at least until next year).

06/19/2008 Package finally arrives at Service Center

09/05/2008 Card Production Ordered!

This is the way it should be, wife is a USC now and they took her ten year green card back, she didn't have it for barely three months. We submitted the I-751 way back in March of 2007 with a constant battle to get that card with the DMV and her employer on her back. no request for evidence, just super darn slow, and lots of stress with it. If the USCIS says to apply 90 days before the card expires, should get you that new card within that period. And with all the proof and background checks we had to submit to get that conditional card, that was all BS, same evidence all over again with the exception of one or two new tax returns.

Then with the USC, you start from scratch again, wife said she saw her folder, a stack of evidence over three inches high, 98% of it was repeats. Hopefully in another week she will get her US passport, dealing with the DOS is just as bad and hoping they do not lose her 400 buck certificate of citizenship. What a battle.

Yeah, it seems ridiculous to only have the 10 year card for one year. Let alone for 3 months, I hope your wife gets her naturalisation certificate quickly.

Yeah, it seems ridiculous to only have the 10 year card for one year. Let alone for 3 months, I hope your wife gets her naturalisation certificate quickly.

Her interviewer was kind of new and kind of dumb, was suppose to give her, her oath letter at the end of the interview. Found out about this after waiting for over a month can contacted my senator's office, got the letter e-mailed to me with apologies just a few hours later with three days warning time. She has her certificate, but we had to mail that to the Department of State for her passport. You are again in a state of limbo without it, can leave the country, but cannot come back. Now we are anxiously waiting for her certificate to come back in one piece with her new US passport.

Waiting never seems to stop. Been well over five years for us.

Weirdest thing is when we registered her with our state to vote, (WI), they didn't even want to see her certificate, and the clerk said to read the bottom line. Any falsification on this form and you will be fined or imprisoned. Ha, they took her word for it.

It's my understanding that a US passport can substitute for the certificate, and perhaps we can use that. A replacement certificate costs $380.00, you have to supply two more passport photos, and takes about one year to get. That is crazy.
