I'm sure she's not worried about Russia...I mean, even if they did invade Georgia, they still have a majority of the South, all those Midwestern states, and then Canada to get through before they get to Alaska.

You can't see mainland Russia from mainland Alaska because of the curvature of the earth. The mainlands are 55 miles apart. At a height of 6 feet the horizon is about 3.24 miles (if I did the math right). It's possible to see the island of Big Diomede (Russia) from the island of Little Diomede (Alaska) -- they are 2.4 miles apart. Palin probably meant she's seen Russia from an airplane over Alaska.

You can see Russia -- technically -- from Alaska. Little and Big Diomede islands are the dividing line and, on a clear day, you could see one from the other. I doubt she's been there, however.

As much as I dislike Palin and agree that the invasion was not unprovoked, she's espousing the standard Bush line -- a line that an Obama administration would probably also take.

I just want to know if she believes dinosaurs were here 4,000 years ago. If so, it proves she has no sense of logic or ability to think critically and therefore MUST be kept well away from the nuclear gadgets.

I had yet to see an unattractive photo of her until this article:

There's a big shadow from her glasses across her face, and they cropped the photo in so close that it distorts her features. I'm not a Palin fan by any means, but this is such a contrast from the photos we've seen for the last couple of weeks that it almost reminds me of those intentionally unflattering tabloid photos.
