At least McCain is a moderate republican.
His positions used to be moderate. But since he has been campaigning for president, his positions have moved to the right to satisfy the more conservative elements in the party.

He still manages to keep the maverick/moderate image. But its become all image and no substance. I guess the democrats haven't been able to dig into enough to dispel that image.

And Obama used to be present liberal. Now he's moved center.

True if your "centre" is the measure used by Ed Broadbent, Alexa McDonough and Jack Layton (of Canada's NDP)--but still left of Paul Martin (erstwhile, unmissed PM).

I think Sarah Palin was a pretty smart pick for McCain.

That is all

Strategic... perhaps smart is lacking in application here.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

This is the first year I'll be voting Republican. After watching Obama's speech last night and feeling like I was in church and seeing the hero worship from before like he's JC I'm a bit put off. At least McCain is a moderate republican. I agree with his foreign policy and his VP choice is a University of Idaho alumni plus a woman. I already know all about her from articles done on her at my University. She was a journalism and mass media major like me. That snags my vote. I don't even know Obama's running mate and I don't agree with some of his policy's.

I'm a little puzzled at how I can make this choice when I don't agree with McCain's policy on pro-life but I feel that McCain and Palin are an overall better match than their competitors.

How did I go from being a liberal Democrat to a moderate Republican in 10 years?

You've been cheated. McCain is no moderate Republican. He's of the same neoconservative ilk, and is turning more that way as the election draws nearer.

Actual "moderate Republicans" (i.e. Rockefeller Republicans) like Lincoln Chafee or Jim Leach have disappeared, leaving the more divisive, extreme Republican side whose "compromises" are a joke.

McCain just made it a whole lot more likely that he will win. Great choice!!

Hi Gary! Long time no see! How's sister Luzy?

She is doing great! She is making me yet another great Philippine lunch right now. God, I love her cooking!
