My wife is itching to go to Sin City, but I haven't been there in years. What's a good, clean, inexpensive place on the Strip with non-smoking rooms?

And of course any suggestions for casinos, shows, or other activities are welcome. We're most likely going to the Hoover dam, for example, but I'm sure there are lots of other things to do.

check out Official Vegas Website!!

personally i recommend going to the top of the stratosphere and the star trek experience at the hilton. even if you're not a trekkie it's a really cool experience. the fountains at bellagio are beautiful to watch as well!!

that's about it from the top of my head!!

I think Las Vegas is one of the places that it is worth the extra $$ to stay in a luxury hotel.

I have stayed at Treasure Island, Balley's and Mandalay Bay--all were wonderful.

I also stayed at the Luxor--it was very dark, and our bathroom had a leak (from the air conditioning in the ceiling). They didn't offer us a different room, a free drink, or anything for the inconvenience.

The lions at the MGM Grand are pretty cool to see. My favorite is the Venetian--especially the shopping area where you can take a ride in a gondola. There is also quite a bit of art (and architecture) to look at inside the lobby and casino of the Venetian. If you like gardens, you could check out the conservatory at Bellagio.

One more thing--The Bellagio Buffet is worth the price!

Hope you have fun!

i totally second sara's suggestion about cirque de soleil!! while we were out there i had an excellent run at the tables and was up about $1300. i tried to score tickets ... it was a no-go as they had been sold out for 2 months already! and i wasn't prepared to spend $400 a pop for scalped ones!!

Last time I was there I stayed at the Flamingo on the strip across from the Bellagio. It was a good price-$69 a night. Hope that helps!

If you want to save money staying midweek rather than the weekend makes a huge difference in price. We like the Monte Carlo as it's not to big and noisy but the rooms are lovely and well priced.

Check out any of the Vegas websites to get an idea of what you want to do - there is so much! I know someone recommended the MGM lions but I would have to say a big NO to that. They look very distressed and personally I find it very cruel to have them hauled up in a casino like that. I know Vegas is a zoo but let's leave it to the humans for entertainment please, and not use helpless animals

Great prices and a great location. I stayed here before it was remodeled.

Sweet, these are great suggestions! I did a search on vegas.com and the Sahara popped up: on the Strip, I've heard of it, and about $40 per night. Also, the Sahara is Moroccan themed, so unless someone voices a strong objection, I think we'll be staying there.

OH stayed there about 4 years ago and said it was grim. Rooms were old and tired. Try and find out if it's been remodelled since then which is highly likely. Although it is on the strip it is quite a long trek from all the other large hotels and events.
