~ Hello fellow VJers ~

In anyones experience or opinion, will i need a co-sponsor if my income is only slightly over the 125% poverty level?

The guidelines for 2008 say $22,000 for a family of 3, to which i will be making an estimated $23,500-$24,000 this year.

Does anyone know if they follow the guidelines closely and possibly take into consideration that my past few years were much higher but due to a recent job change it has been lowered?

Any feedback will be greatly appreciated :D

Thank You ~~Mike and Karol~~

In my opinion, I don't see anything wrong as long as you are over the minimum...

Shouldn't be any problem. If you have assets it wouldn't hurt to show them also.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

!! ALL PAU!

as long as you're over or above the required % for you, i think you're gonna be fine..

haole is right and i think showing some assets would be a plus..

I-134 actually only requires 100% of income... the 125% poverty guideline applies for those applications requiring the use of I-864 affidavit of support form.

Do the same income requirements apply to all immigrant visa applicants even if they use the I-134? No. The 125 percent minimum income requirement, the most recent year's tax return and other requirements only apply when an I-864 is needed. Applicants using the I-134 will need to show that their sponsor's income is 100 percent of federal poverty guidelines as required under Section 212(a)(4) of the INA.

Since you are on K1, you would need the I-134, which means your income is ok even without co-sponsor.

Good luck and God bless.

Ate Gay is right. For I-134 form is 100% only..using I-864 has to be 125% and thats for AOS.This is what Grace of USEM told my fiancee also.

Fellow VJ family, just a question... My husband needs a co-sponsor (it will be his mom) since he is still student. HOwever, I'd like to know if the co-sponsor's income should cover my husband and I's equal cost of living?

replies will be greatly appreciated.

Hi...I'm not an expert but I read some thread before about co-sponsor.As I remember...the co-sponsor needs to meet the 125% including you,who she going to sponsor and her dependents.

If ur mom-inlaw is supporting ur husband and some one in her household...she will count all the people in her household plus You.But if ur mom-inlaw is single/divorce and no dependents and meet the poverty guideline...that means u are the only she is going to sponsor.

Hope this help you.Btw,when is ur interview??
