Hello,

Does the NVC require the Authorization for Release of Federal Tax Data when completing the I-864? I've been looking at the "James Shortcut" and have noticed that there are multiple versions of this document, some state to fill this out while another doesn't mention it.

Any ideas, thoughts?

It is no longer required. For the latest version you will want to view James' shortcuts on the VJ wiki page here.
