Hello all,

Was just looking at timelines from last year to see now long the process took people when they started in September 2007. There's a LOT of ppl's files that took 1-2 months from sending to receive a NOA1? What in the world happened then...did USCIS misplace lots of files!? Any body have any idea....Im just curious if there's something missed somewhere (and to hopefully avoid this when the time comes to apply!).

Last year there was a fee increase which brought in a huge influx of petitions that they didn't have the staff to handle. Many petitions from last summer took 6+ months...some, much much longer (noa1 to noa2). It wasn't until after fall of 2007 that they even started to catch up. That could be the reason for the wait time for the NOA1's back then.

In January of this year, VSC was approving petitions in less than a months time. Now they are taking several. Historically, Vermont has always been the fastest processing center. Around the same time last year, the service centers that process K1's were also cut down to two (California and Vermont) and new laws were enacted. There is also a new director and lots of new staff.

The H1b visas were thought to have slowed down the processing for vermont ..not sure if that's what the hold up for the june filers (noa1) was this time (we've been waiting close to 4 months for noa2 so it's something) but nobody really knows for sure. CSC is right on track with where they normally are.
