Hi everyone,

I have a unique situation, and hoping you can lend a helping hand. In order to obtain a PCC from Ahmedabad, I am required to present the hard copy of DS-230 part I coversheet received from the NVC. The officials here have seen this letter from NVC numerous times, and would not initiate the process without it.

I have two options:

1) Wait for the Packet 3 (Ds-230) to arrive by snail mail

2) Use James' shortcut to prepare one on my own.

Initially, we went along with option 1 hoping the packet would arrive soon. It has been almost 5 weeks, and the packet is not in my hands. I have called the NVC and requested a copy of this packet sent to my wife again. My wife is the beneficiary as well as the choice of agent.

Now, I am considering option 2 above to expedite the process. I found James' shortcut template for DS-230 Part I coversheet. Please see attached.

Would you please take a look at this template, and match it to the actual Packet 3 coversheet you received? Please let me know if the format of this template resembles what you received from the NVC. The officials are very much familiar to the exact format, and I do not want to take in something they would refuse to recognize. This will help us greatly to determine whether to wait for the packet 3 to arrive or move forward with James's shortcut. We thank you in advance for your help.

Kind Regards,

bir09.

Do you recommend taking this format to obtain PCC? I am not sure if they will accept it. If it is no major trouble, do you mind letting me know what difference are out there so it resembles the new one?

I do not have a copy right now. Did you pay online already for IV fee ? If yes, you can take the barcode coversheet printout from that website. Otherwise, the format you specified from James shortcut is fine.

Thanks for your dedication to help. I appreciate it very much.

I did pay the IV fee bill online, and already presented the online barcode coversheet to the the Ahmedabad authorities. They have simply refused to recognize this and adamantly asked for the actual snail mail cover letter from the NVC. Apparently they are well aware of what the letter looks like. The red tape in Ahmadabad is just mind boggling. Nonetheless, I have to deal with it.

At your earliest convenience, do you mind sending me the differences? I hope I am not asking for too much.

Thanks,

bir09.

Hi Bani,

Thanks for responding.

Do you know what checklist they are referring to? Were they fine with James' shortcut, or did they say, this is not something we are looking for?

Thanks,

bir09 ...i have no idea what check list they are talking about...i talked to a local agent in india while my wife was @ the office and he said its a list that you get after u mail your ds-230 but i told him i need a PCC before i can send in the PCC...so apparently he didnt know what he was talking about either. and abt the actual visit to the ahmd office, the guy told my wife bring in an appointment letter, which i dont know what he's talking about either. but the bar code sheet sure didnt work. i did email the ahmd office and this is what i got.

Dear Sis/Madam

My name is XXX XXX. I am citizen of the U.S. I have applied for my wife's immigrant visa for her to come and stay in the U.S using the USCIS from number I 130. The receipt number for that file is WAC08189XXXXX. This file was approved from USCIS on July 8th 2008. Now my question is for you guys is that she is required for a PCC in order for me to submit my DS-230 forms. Her passport was issued on 05-15-2008. From what i have researched it's telling me that my wife only needs to get the clearance from the passport issuing office because her passport is only 2 months old. Is this true? Also what documents does she need to bring to her PCC done at your office. I have the USCIS. approval notice as of now. Please let me know of this situation. My wife's information is below

bir09 and yoke,

The checklist they are referring is basically HARD copies (request for your DS-230 package) mailed by NVC for you to send DS-230 package back to NVC. In that checklist, they'll ask PCC too. Junk Ahamdabad police authority needs that hard copy. That's all! So, you have to wait the snail mail from NVC. Normally it should come in 2 to 4 weeks time.

Thanks everyone.

Just a clarificatrion: I am the petitioner, and my wife in India is the beneficiary.

I will try getting PCC once again using the following. Please let me know if you have any other recommendation.

1) NOA2 Approval letter

2) DS-3032 Choice of Agent I received

3) James' Shortcut Cover Letter

4) IV Fee Bill Receipt, and barcode cover sheet

5) Copy of the U.S. Passport of the Petitioner

6) DS-230 Instructions, and Checklists

Am I leaving anything out?

PatientPaidOff, or anyone else reading this post, I would appreciate it very much if you can provide me with any difference between the new format of the DS-230 cover letter and James' Shortcut. Please help!

Thanks,

Biren.
