wow ... sounds like we can all organize a get together at some point! We will certainly be in the area, we are going to rent I guess for 6 months before we make a commitment on buying a house. My daughter in law lives Pines Hills area( she says not to buy there  ) so we would like to be somewhere close by.

Gabby...dont know how long we will be at Patrick, we may do billeting there for 10 days or hotel it until we find a place to rent, but like i said, we will be close by in the future for sure.. oh yeh, hubby is a msgt

Tara, my son is also 12....so plenty of eyes to keep on the lil' ones when we hit the beach

When you rent/buy please be sure to get a place with an extra bedroom. Some of your VJ friends flee their homes in the winter for warmer climates. :D

Of course, a couch will do too. :P

Yes. That is not a favorable place to live according to the news here. Try WINDEREMERE area. It is a safe place and a gated community. Goodluck.

We are making our move to Florida late Sept, we have looked at a few places in Florida and now we are drawn to the Orlando area, I would be happy to hear from anyone who lives in or around here who can give me an insight to areas to avoid buying/renting...what are the schools like?

Or if you live in another part of Florida and love it....tell me about that too

Thanks in advance!

move to cocoa beach ...its amazing here :) its about an hour from orlando :)

cool...I will add that to the list to look up ..thanks

Gabby...my hubby will doing his retirement stuff at Patrick AFB...it looks like it is the Cocoa Beach area?? I can have a good look around while we are there

Merritt Island is where NASA is...there should be some good places to live out there. The only thing is the property insurance anywhere near the coast is a killer and so are the taxes. Do they have any form of base housing where you could live until you find what you like?

I'm in Tallahassee by the way, but I travel often to Orlando. There are some really neat areas down there.
